Here’s Why You Need to Visit South Bend in the Spring
As the snow melts and warmer weather comes out to play, our area comes alive with great things to do! South Bend in the spring features a couple of our favorite events, like the opening day for the Midwest League and the Notre Dame Blue & Gold Game. Watch local champs, the South Bend Cubs, as they bat their way to the top of the standings. Or, watch the coveted Fighting Irish football team as they play in the final scrimmage practice of spring at the Notre Dame Blue & Gold Game.
Things to Do in South Bend in the Spring
Midwest League Baseball
Our area is home to the championship-winning team, the South Bend Cubs. In 2019, the South Bend Cubs won the Midwest League Championship Game! This year, we’re hoping for more of the same. Opening day for the South Bend Cubs is on April 9, 2020, at Four Winds Field. This stadium is located less than a half-mile from our bed and breakfast, so it’s easy to attend a South Bend Cubs game and not have to worry about commuting or parking. After the game, head to downtown South Bend for drinks and appetizers and some of our favorite local bars!
Notre Dame Blue & Gold Game
There’s nothing more quintessentially South Bend than a Notre Dame football game! You don’t have to visit during the fall to delight in the excitement of game day, though. The Notre Dame Blue & Gold Game is one of our favorite spring events in South Bend! This end-of-spring scrimmage practice makes way for the excitement of what’s to come in the fall. This event draws Notre Dame alumni and fans to The Oliver Inn each year. We love chatting with guests who are just as passionate about college football as we are. This year’s game is set to take place on Saturday, April 18, 2020. Tickets are on sale now! We have ours. Do you have yours?
