History of the Team
The South Bend Cubs, formerly known as the Silver Hawks, came to Northern Indiana in 1988. Since then, the team has endured a variety of changes that got them to the name, mascot, and stadium they have now. As long time fans, we believe that these changes have made a positive impact on the team! Since the South Bend Cubs’ premier season in 1988, the team has won four league championships — the most recent in 2019.
Four Winds Field
Four Winds Field is home to the South Bend Cubs! Each spring, the lights shine down on 5,000-person stadium as guests delight in ballpark hot dogs and beer and the players put on a great game. Four Winds Field is one of the most iconic renovation projects in the history of downtown South Bend. The stadium has won several awards like Ballpark Digest’s “Best Ballpark” and the 2012 “Ballpark Renovation of the Year.”
Our South Bend, Indiana, bed and breakfast is located just a half-mile away from the stadium, so it’s easy to walk to a game and avoid searching for parking. Didn’t get tickets to the game? Don’t worry! Many of the local bars in South Bend air the games, so you can watch from the comfort of your barstool.
2020 Season
Opening day 2020 for the South Bend Cubs is delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic facing our nation. The official opening day hasn’t been announced yet, but you can count on numerous home games to be held at Four Winds Stadium through early September. If the team goes to the finals, which we’re sure they will, the season will go even longer! Be sure to check out the 2020 South Bend Cubs schedule to see which games you might attend. Attending a baseball game in South Bend is a great itinerary item for your weekend getaway in Northern Indiana.
