Cross-Country Skiing & Snowshoeing

Who says you need mountains to practice winter sports? County parks in South Bend offer locals and visitors alike incredible opportunities for winter activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and tubing! 

St. Patrick’s County Park is the go-to ski area in South Bend! Enjoy daily skiing from Dec. 26, 2019 to Jan. 5, 2020. Guests can ski Wednesdays through Sundays from Jan. 8, 2020, to March 8, 2020. Or, take advantage of the park’s Skiing Under the Stars event! Each Friday in January and the first in February, St. Patrick’s County Park gives visitors the chance to practice their skills under the moonlight! Sweet treats and hot beverages will be provided. 

Head to Ferrettie/Baugo Creek County Park for snowshoeing in South Bend! Take advantage of daily snowshoeing from Dec. 26, 2019 to Jan. 5, 2020. After Jan. 11, 2020, shoeshowing is available exclusively on the weekends. This is a great way to take in the snow-covered beauty of our area! Families or those looking for something a bit less intense can head to either of the above South Bend county parks for tubing this winter!

Winter Sports at the University of Notre Dame

Head to the University of Notre Dame to cheer on the Fighting Irish! Notre Dame winter sports include women’s basketball, men’s basketball, and hockey. Each of these teams plays from mid-fall through February. Catch a basketball game at the Purcell Pavilion or head to the on-campus Compton Family Ice Arena for hockey. Shows at the Morris Performing Arts Center
